The 9th annual Maine-iac ‘Spiel, at the Belfast Curling Club, will be held November 8th – 11th.
This is an open format bonspiel, any mix of gender in any order. 3 game guarantee, all meals, live music, 4 events with pins and prizes, and of course Larry (bronze lobster trophy) goes to the team who wins the whole shebang.
The cost per team is $360. First draw is Thursday afternoon with the finals Sunday morning. Finals and awards should be completed by 2:30 pmSunday.
Entries are accepted by mail only, in the order of the postmark date. Registration will open on April 18th, meaning that is the earliest postmark that will be accepted. Maine-iac ‘Spiel information and entry forms will be available on the Belfast Curling Club website by April 11th. The rink fee must be included with the entry form. In past years we have filled up the first day so you’ll want to get your registration mailed on April 18.
There is one spot being held for a Belfast team via lottery. A team with 2 BCC members and 2 from away counts as a Belfast team. The second spot will go to the winner of the playdowns. If you have entered into the playdowns you cannot be entered into this lottery.
We will e-mail you when your entry is received, but will need several weeks to determine whether teams are accepted.
Just wanted to let you know that our story on the Belfast Curling Club will air on Maine Public Television this Saturday, 2/24,2018 at 2:25pm and 6:25pm. It will be a slightly abridged version because of time constraints in our TV schedule so I am also linking below to our Facebook page where the video is online now as well as our website. Both Facebook and the website will have the full story and will also be easily sharable to the rest of the club.
Thanks again for working with us on this story. I think it came out pretty well...I hope you all enjoy it!

Have a group that would like to try curling? We can help!
Participants need to bring $200 and eight people dressed in loose, warm clothing. They'll get the overview, the crash course and two instructors who will guide them through the first few ends and gradually withdraw as they take over all the curling.

Located on the outskirts of the Mid-coast Maine city of Belfast, we offer Mainers a chance to participate in a sport that is popular among all age groups. No experience necessary. Just be ready to have fun! Our season begins in November and carries through march.
We have a new Facebook Page! The official page for the Belfast Curling Club will be used to promote the club, and the sport of curling in general. This new page brings us in line with how other clubs promote themselves. The new page allows us to post as “The Belfast Curling Club” instead of under the poster’s name. It also allows people to SHARE our posts – great for Bonspiel flyers, allows us to schedule events so that they show on a calendar, allows people to message the page, and allows us to “Like” other club pages, amongst other things. The page will be fairly active, and hopefully will bring us more recognition. We hope it will help bring more people into the sport, make the club even healthier, and get clubs “from away” interested in our bonspiels. Please go “LIKE” the new page today – and stay tuned! Here’s the link:
The “old” page will become “The Belfast Curling Club CURLERS Group”. This is going to be a great resource for club members. The settings will be changed shortly so that any member of the group can post to it. POSTS MUST BE CURLING RELATED. This will be a place where you can post interesting curling videos or ask for curling advice. Want to try to get a pickup game going on a weekend? This will be a great place for that. Short on volunteers for one of our events? Ask for help here! Got some great pictures to share of your team at an away Bonspiel? Go for it! You get the idea - let’s make this an active and meaningful page. Please keep it clean and civil! Inappropriate posts will be deleted by the admins. Here is the link to the group, in case you aren’t already a member. If you AREN’T – ask to join today! If we see some great posts in this group, we will also share them on the official/main page.
We are seeking donations to replace our aged ice making plant, rink floor, and rink piping system.
To date we’ve received donations of approximately $93,765.00, and still have a long way to go to reach our projected goal of $350,000.
This is your curling club and we’re sure it’s an important part of your winter. So, you have to ask yourself: “if the club didn’t have curling ice what would I be doing for winter recreation?”
Please give what you can toward our goal. There is no minimum or maximum amount.
Donations may be made as a lump sum or as a pledge with installments over two years. All donations must be made by check, payable to : Belfast Curling Club
or use this donate button:
Please make your check payable to the Belfast Curling Club and mail to:
