We welcome new curlers to join the Belfast Curling Club twice a year, in mid-October and mid-January, when new leagues are formed. These leagues run for an 9-week session (called a half) and can differ slightly, depending on demand.

Prior to each half, we hold two-hour events open to the public known as Learn to Curls. There is a fee to participate, but if you decide to join the curling club, it is applied towards membership dues. Club members are available at the Learn to Curls to facilitate the signup process and answer any questions. For more information, go to Learn to Curl Events

As a full member, you can sign up for as many leagues as you want and can reserve ice for practice or pick-up games any time there are not leagues, events, or ice maintenance scheduled. Leagues typically run weekday evenings starting at 6:30, and also most weekday afternoons at various times. On Sunday, there is a Doubles League (not for beginners), and otherwise weekend ice is reserved for bonspiels, rentals, youth, and college curling. To see our most recent league schedule, go to Leagues.

Social memberships are good way for people who can't commit to regular league play to stay connected to curling. Social members are permitted to sub in 3 league games per half, to play in pick-up games and in-house bonspiels, and to reserve practice time. Generally, a social membership is best suited for people with some curling experience.

Learn to Curls are a great avenue for new curlers to join the Belfast Curling Club. If you are an experienced curler new to the area or a past BCC member who hasn’t curled for a while, email [email protected] for information about joining BCC and signing up for league play without attending a Learn to Curl Event.

VOLUNTEERING

Since BCC is an all-volunteer organization, we ask that members contribute a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer time per year. There are many ways to fulfill this, including ice maintenance, bar/kitchen help during bonspiels, Learn to Curl events, and more. The call for volunteers is issued often during the curling season, and our continued success depends on a great response each time!
