Preamble
To provide BCC members with a safe curling environment in which to participate while maintaining the camaraderie and respect of our sport as we are all part of the same curling community, the following COVID Policy has been implemented for the 2022-2023 season. Recognizing this disease has historically shown an ability to mutate that has created surges in case numbers, it is important to recognize that as we follow weekly CDC data, it may be necessary to modify this policy. The mitigation strategy which is most easily employed is a masking decision that will be based on the weekly reported CDC COVID Community Level for Waldo County.
Vaccination Policy
At this time, we HIGHLY recommend vaccination for all our members and guests. It is no longer mandated to provide proof of vaccination. However, it may be required for specific leagues as determined by Operations and the Board.
Masking Policy
We recommend masking continue as per CDC guidelines where masking will be defined as the use of a hospital grade mask.
Current masking status will be prominently displayed throughout the club and specific guidelines are as follows:
- At low community levels (green) indoor masking is optional.
- At medium community levels (yellow) indoor masking is recommended for at risk individuals.
- At high community levels (red) indoor masking is required for all individuals.
- Anyone is encouraged to wear a mask within the facility at any time according to their risk or preferences, without prejudice.
- Local community statistics will continue to be provided to the BCC Board by the COVID Committee on a regular basis and will serve as one component for establishing current masking guidelines.
Event procedures
- All participants/guests in bonspiels, LTCs, pickup games and similar events will be subject to the same policies as previously noted.
- It shall be the responsibility of the event coordinator(s) to provide timely COVID updates to participants as well as ensure participant adherence to these policies.
Member responsibility
- Members/guests are required to follow current CDC isolation, quarantine, and masking guidelines. (https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html)
- Members/guests will not enter the club if they exhibit signs of active illness.
- Members/guests will not enter the club if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or have been advised by a medical professional or public health authority that they should be isolating or quarantining.
- Members/guests who are confirmed to have COVID-19 and enter the facility during the time they were potentially contagious are recommended to notify their close contacts upon testing positive.
